There is a lot of talk these days about hemp and CBD. Rightly so because both offer amazing benefits both for your skin and when taken internally. There is, however, much misinformation and, in my opinion, misleading information about the differences between the two. For this reason I have stayed away from making any CBD products.

Let’s start by talking about the difference between hemp CBD oil and hemp seed oil. CBD oil is made from the cannabis plant: leaves, stalks and flowers. Hemp seed oil is made from cold-pressed hemp seeds. Hemp and cannabis are related in the plant world however cannabis contains much higher concentrations of THC than hemp. Unfortunately, many products claiming to contain CBD, and therefore the benefits specifically attributed to it, are actually made with hemp seed oil. This is not to say that hemp seed oil doesn’t have amazing benefits for your skin. It DOES and that is why I chose to use it along with hemp butter for my brand new Happy Hemp lotion bars.

Studies have shown that hemp seed oil’s anti-inflammatory properties make it beneficial for those with acne, eczema and psoriasis. Your skin will love the organic, vegan hemp butter which, along with the hemp seed oil, is rich in essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. Hemp seed oil is a light, thin oil that also helps balance oily skin, won’t clog your pores and will keep your skin feeling soft all day! Hemp butter is hemp seed oil that has been blended with cocoa butter. Cocoa butter is rich in antioxidants, helps fight free radicals, helps hold moisture into your skin and can help improve the appearance of scars and wrinkles.

This is so much to be happy about which is why I chose ‘Happy Hemp’ as the name for these lotion bars! And just look how cute they are!
